Waffle Disaster

So this morning  I woke up and decided that I was going to make a big and "delicious" breakfast of sausage and apple cinnamon waffles. As I was getting all of the ingredients together, I decided to make a healthier version and use whole wheat flour. This seemed like a good idea what with the Easter overhaul and all. Well it turned out to be a very bad idea! The whole wheat with this particular recipe, made the batter REALLY thick. So I added a bit more milk... and a bit more... and a bit more. Until I finally deemed it suitable. I added the apples and cinnamon and started the first batch. As you may have guessed by the title of this blog, it was a disaster! The whole wheat taste was overwhelming. Even with syrup and peanut butter, you could not cover up the feeling that you were eating straight whole wheat. Jeff was so nice, saying that it wasn't that bad and he was glad I tried something a bit healthier. I told him that was sweet, but hogwash and that the waffles were nasty. :) So we added more cinnamon. Still no good. Added some sugar. Still no good. Added a LOT more sugar. Still not that great. Maybe this flour is the wrong kind to use or homemade whole wheat waffles are just a rotten idea. Either way, I have decided that you should not mess with the deliciousness (is that a word?) of waffles. From now on it is white flour or buttermilk pancake mix. :) Jeff continued to eat until full and said the rest would be good to snack on. The brave man. He even did the dishes for me after! How did I get so lucky? I really couldn't tell you, but i'm very grateful all the same! The upside of the story is that the sausage was excellent and we got a good laugh out of the whole event. :)

So Jeff decided to put all the remaining batter in one corner.... Haha ya gotta love that man!

He didn't want me to take a picture of his messy waffles. So of course I had to and then follow up by taking a picture of him as well. :)

I know people always say how lucky they are, but really, I got a man who likes to do the dishes! That's pretty darn lucky in my book. :)
